Silent Auction

Home Donations Contact Us

The Ancestral Knowledge Silent Auction that was held at the Mid Atlantic Primitive Skills rendezvous was a big success.  Many supporters of our mission, including many MAPS members have generously donated some amazing gifts so that we might raise money to run our programs in neighborhoods with economic hardship.

Thank you all for donating to Ancestral Knowledge programming!  Your contributions will go a long way – in addition to covering the costs of our first-aid supplies for the summer programs, there will be additional dollars for us to use to keep the costs of our fall mentoring programs low.  We are infinitely grateful . . .These donantions helped us raise over $1000.00 towards our programing.  We would like to thank all of the donators and participents in the auction, it wouldn't have happened without your contributions.

take a look at some of the things that were auctioned off:

-Micmoc pounded Ash Splint Basket/danated by Jim Roaix

-The antique Bulffalo Skinning Knife/donated by Tom Turtle

- A stunning gourd container / art piece, decorated with woven pine needle trim and feathers

- A beautiful Obsidian Dagger (we’re having a hard time not buying this on ourselves!)

- Melon Basket of locally harvested materials. Woven by the donor

- Birch Basket that you wish was yours

- Texas Chert Stone Knife with bone handle and Sheath with quill work

- Possum Bag of truly plush possum fur, face on

- One MAPS Sweatshirt, the last of its kind!

- Two Bow Horses (this is a bench/clamp that allows you to carve with both hands while in a seated position)

- One drumming lesson, donated by Rob Reed, a professional percussionist local to Baltimore.  Rob performs and teaches African, Jazz, Metal and Fusion drums and percussive instruments.  Winning bidder arranges date and style of drumming lesson

- Linda Felch, trained in the practice of Five Element Chinese Medicine and in the shamanic tradition of the Huichol people is generously offering a plant spirit medicine session.  Most indigenous people connected with, learned from, were nourished by and were healed by the local plants.  This is to be a healing session where the plant people are the healers!  The winning bidder may schedule a session in Linda's downtown Baltimore office or her New Freedom, PA office.

- A flint knapping workshop with Bill Kaczor. One eight hour session for up to three people. Workshop will be held in Mt Rainier Md.  Date to be scheduled with highest bidder

- One Wild edible, medicinal and useful plant session with Suzy Wald.  Great outing for a family or group.  Winning bidder (or bidders) can arrange to meet in any decent sized wooded park within 45 minutes of DC.  Session date to be scheduled from mid May – beginning October. (Meaning if you really want to do it in the spring, we can schedule it for 2006)

Last, but really should be first:

-A painting rendered by the Director of Elemental Awareness, that RAD primitive skills / skateboarding nonprofit organization out there on the left coast.  We have never seen this painting, and we never will!  It was so great that someone who saw the work in progress snapped it up for $200.00.  Now we’ve been told by credible sources that it was worth far more than that, but hey, to us, that’s a fortune. . .  Thank you Mikey!  Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Dobrovolny!

Your generous donations are a gift to the Spirit we ALL work for  - and the children will thank you
